Bikes And BOOM!!
Now that homework is a thing of the past, I have time to start knocking items off my to-do list. Today's tasks: car, bikes, and BOOM. I rolled out of bed at the leisurely hour of something past noon, grabbed some food, and slapped on some sunblock (gosh, it was nice out today!), and got to work.
Now complete, in order:
- washed new used roof top bike rack system
- washed outside of car
- installed new used roof top bike rack system
- washed inside of car
- fixed car speaker static again (I hope it sticks this time)
- re-installed subwoofer (BOOM!!)
- put rear seats back in
I'll try to remember to take a picture of it tomorrow with a couple bikes on top. :)

Trees 1, Viv 0
I finally got around to giving my car a good cleaning this afternoon. Three hours of washing, waxing, tire shining, vinyl and rubber protecting, glass cleaning, vacuuming, and leather conditioning later, I stopped to admire the shininess and found a newly deposited coat of pollen all over the outside. Siiigh.

Bye Bye, Bling ... Hellooo, *Bling*
In exchange for some ATM bling, my car got some TLC and a coat of blingy radiance. Yup, after two years, it got its first detailing. I can't even begin to describe how shiny it is. I need sunglasses to look at it ... at night. Okay, fine, I'm just kidding. But still, it's shinier than it's ever been. It smells good, too. Tonight, I passed by the garage after dinner with my aunt, I wondered what the nice smell was, I walked over to my car, I sniffed the paint, and yes, my car was acting as a gigantic air freshener. Wow.
The inside is black. Blindingly black. There is none more black. I have no idea how they got all the dust out. Maybe they have a little hand-held black hole that they wave over stuff and it just sucks everything up. Where can I get one of those?

Bump Bump Bump ... Fzzzzz!
With new wheels come lower sidewalls and more road vibration. I ran across the Muni tracks along Taraval on my way home tonight and my front left speaker started spewing static ... again.
Damned Birds
Stupid birds! Don't be poopin' on my car the day after I wash it!

Car Car Friday
The to-do list for my car today:
- wash exterior
- clean interior (vacuum, Meguiar-all, condition leather, windows)
- Rain-X windshields
- reground V1
- install stainless steel brake lines
- bleed brakes
- put new wheels on
When I woke up this morning, all of this was supposed to happen, but none of it was going to happen. I was just going to mope around the house all day and be unproductive. But it was nice out, and I wanted to go to the gym, and I realized there was a DIY car wash thing out by the gym, so I headed out and lifted and washed.
That did the trick. Turns out I just needed a jump start. I went home, finished off the interior, and, for the first time in weeks, felt happy that my car was clean.
This is the part where you guys roll your eyes, I know. People think I'm nuts when they tell me my car is clean and I say I think it's dirty. What I wonder is, DON'T YOU SEE THE DUST??
Ha, okay, I'm kidding, kind of.
Redid the V1 ground connection. I've been driving detectorless for the last few days, and it's quite disturbing because I drive too fast and I can't seem to slow it down even when I know I'm incapable of detecting out-of-sight speed patrol.
Finally, brake lines!
Actually, no. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out (1) how to get the rear lines off and (2) how to make the ss rear lines attach. I believe this is because (1) the rear lines don't wrench off and (2) the ss rear lines I have don't fit my car. I'm torn. Do I try to get lines that fit, try to return these ones, or just flat out sell them? I'll deal with that later.
I did, however, bleed my brakes. It was amazingly easy ... as are most things when you have the right tools. Thanks, Nadsy, for letting me borrow your pressure bleeder!
I fiiinally put my new wheels on. They look HOT. Well, except that now I'm wishing I cleaned my calipers before putting the wheels on. They look dirty. Ha.
Noticed my strut towers sit funny. That's worrisome. Currently asking the Vortex folks whether I'm paranoid or in need of a suspension adjustment.
Turns out I'm paranoid, but still, I swear they didn't look like that stock!

Ow, My Head
I usually park my car in the garage with its windows down, so I can just reach in and grab whatever I need without opening the doors (my garage is kinda small). Today, while performing car Advil refill maintenance, I reached at the center console and bumped my head into the passenger's side window.
The windows were up, and very clean, apparently. I guess that's a good thing, except for that head smudge I just put on the glass.
Call me a slow learner. I cleaned off the glass and still left the windows up.

Shiny Shiny Wheelseses
Waxed, or rather, NuFinished my wheels just now. They look *nice*. So shiny! I can't wait to put them on. That's gonna be badass!

Ick! Ow!
My car is really dirty, and I want to wash it, and I want to install some of the new toys I bought for it, but if I do my gums will probably start throbbing and bleeding, and it's taken me a whole hour to get this damned bloody taste out of my mouth, so I guess my car will have to wait a little while longer for its bath and new toys.

Car Blurb 1: Sprinklers Suck
My shiny clean car is now a sprinkler spotted car. Stupid sprinkler. Stupid lawn!
Car Blurb 2: FNM! FNM! FNM!
I love that I can now play mp3 CDs in my car. My entire Faith No More collection on one CD! That is cool beyond words.

Cleeean!
On this bee-ooo-tiful Sunday, I finally had a chance to wash my car and motorcycle. It just dawned on me that I now have two vehicles to wash. I wasn't spending enough time washing just my car, you know?
Anyway, my car is now shiny enough to match my ghetto fabulous hubcaps. Whoo.

Cleeean!
Finally, my car is clean. It was so dirty I couldn't get everything off in one pass. At the very least, it looks red again. Yay.

Blindingly Clean
4 hour car cleaning complete! I even pulled out the floor mats and hosed them off. Used my new random orbital polisher. It's a pain because you have to do 3 passes: one to apply the wax, one to get it off, and one to do the final polish. Worth it? Hell yeah! My car is now shinier than when I picked it up from the dealer! I'll have to start passing out sunglasses so I don't blind people. Heh.

Clean, Clean, And Clean
Whoo! Happy car! It got a much needed warshin' this afternoon. Finally finished the rubbing compound pass of my door scrape fix, too. Rubbed out a few other scratches while I was at it. Also gave it its 15,000 mile oil change. Mobil 1 0W-40. Man, I feed my car better than I feed myself. I'm sitting here eating four day old cow. "Moo!", says I. "Vroom!", says my car. Yes, my car is worth eating left over leftovers for. After all, the cost of a nice meal buys me a case of damned good motor oil. Two nice meals and I'll make up for the ramps I bought, too.
The bestest thing (and ironically the fastest thing) about today is, my car now has cool new bumper markers. Clear cover with orange bulbs instead of orange cover with not-so-super white bulbs. They took all of 10 minutes to swap out, and that's including time to take pictures of everything. No more orange light covers on my red car! Fashion faux pas, you know.
Pictures of the light swap for your viewing pleasure sometime in the near future, I hope.

Well Armored
Whoo ... my car is cleeeeean. The outside is washed and waxed, the inside is vacuumed and Armor Alled, the wheels are painstakingly scrubbed, the tires are shiny and black, the windows are wiped and squeegeed, the leather is cleaned and conditioned, and there are now license plate frames both front and back. Heck, I even conditioned my leather CD holder while I was at it.
I even remembered to Armor All the black antenna that sticks out the back.

Blindingly Black
So my team won today. Er, yesterday, I guess. I also cleaned my car for the first time in weeks. Hooray for good weather. I washed it and dried it and scrubbed the wheels and cleaned the windows and Armor All'ed the vinyl and even conditioned the leather. The black interior is so shiny it's blinding. Blindingly black. Strange, that. Roh.

Car Wash Bos
My car is clean and waxed and shiny and smooth, from the tip of the antenna right down to the tires. This calls for another huzzah.
Huzzah! ![]()
Thank you Nadsy for being my car wash buddy. Wax on! Wax off!
