Nuts About Nuts
In my snack drawer* at work:
- peanut butter
- Koh-Kae crunchy coconut cream flavored peanuts
- "fah sung soh" a.k.a. ground peanut cookies
- garlic almonds from the farmer's market
- lime 'n chili almonds
Up until last week, I had orange honey almonds in there too.
I like cashews also, but they're not as good for me as almonds and peanuts. Er, not that ground peanut cookies are nutritionally superior to plain cashews, but I like living in my little world of tasty lies so don't anyone tell me otherwise.
* This also happens to be the largest of all my drawers. Snackage trumps all.

My Two Peanut Butters
My usual: Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy
ingredients: roasted peanuts, corn syrup solids, sugar, soy protein, salt, partially hydrogenated vegetable oils (rapeseed, cottonseed, soybean) to prevent separation, mono and diglycerides (to improve creaminess) minerals (magnesium oxide, zinc oxide, iron phosphate, copper sulfate), vitamins (niacinamide, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid).

Bottom of the Peanut Butter Jar
I've reached the end of yet another jar of peanut butter. This is what I wait for all jar, because it means I get to sit down with what's left on the side of the jar, scrape out a little at a time, dip it in sugar, repeat the process, and proceed to finish off the jar in crunchy sugary peanut buttery bliss.

PB/DMD/MH-D Replacements
I think I've figured it out. I've traded peanut butter, Diet Mountain Dew, and Mango Häagen-Dazs for Jamba Juices and frozen Freddos (or Frappucinos, if I'm not lucky enough to be near a Peet's). Energy boosts and extra shots, respectively, even though I'm still convinced that caffeine does nothing for me. *twitch*

Sick Of Peanut Butter?!
Peanut butter just doesn't do it for me anymore. I think I've eaten too much of it lately or something. Remember those peanut butter and honey bagels I used to love so much? The ones I had to try very hard to cut down on? I've had two halves in the past month and neither of them really did anything for me.
Sick Of Diet Mountain Dew?!
I've drastically cut down on Diet Mountain Dew consumption, too. I used to drink at least one a day, and three or four on a typical grease monkey weekend day. Now, it's one or two a week, and one or two on a long grease monkey weekend day. They don't really do much for me anymore, either.
Sick of Mango Häagen-Dazs?!
Yes, even Mango Häagen-Dazs. I don't crave endless pints of it anymore.

What next? I'm scared.
This reminds me of a time when I was in sixth grade or so. I somehow lost interest in all my favorite foods for a couple weeks. I didn't want pizza, didn't want pasta, didn't even want McDonald's. I think my mom was scared for me, like I'm scared for me now.

Mmm ... peanut butter and honey bagel.
Yes, it's only a half, but I had one just like it this morning, so that puts me at a full peanut butter and honey bagel for the day, plus another whole wheat bagel (ha, a pun!), since I ate the other half of both halves plain.
I think my peanut butter and honey bagel halving plan is backfiring on me.
On the other hand, I'm down four pounds in four weeks. I think cutting down on pb & honey has helped quite a bit. That and not eating entire pints of Mango Häagen-Dazs. That and hockey. Hooray for hockey. Hooah.

Peanut Butter Is Good For You!
In lieu of out-of-stock creamy peanut butter I slathered ridiculous amounts of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter on my bagel instead. Pure fat instead of fat plus protein plus carbs plus fiber.
Hey, you know, peanut butter's a complete food. I should eat more of it.

Crunchy, Yuck
The thing I don't like about crunchy peanut butter is that peanuts don't melt so when you make yourself a crunchy peanut butter and honey bagel the "peanut butter" just sits there in the bagel and all you get is honey runoff and it's just no fun dipping your crunchy peanut butter and honey bagel in just honey.
We're out of creamy peanut butter at work.
Dammit, I'm eating peanut butter and honey bagels again.

Six-pack Plan
Okay, as part of my efforts to get a six-pack by Christmas, I'm cutting down on peanut butter and honey bagels as of today. That'll save me a good 300-400 calories per bagel (that's just the pb and honey; I'm still eating the bagel). Multiply that by 5, that's 1500-2000 calories per week. Multiply that by 30, that's 45000-60000 calories between now and Christmas. Divide by 3500 and that's 12-17 pounds.
Hrmm ... that's more than I want to lose. Maybe that means more ice cream.
Maybe that means more Mango Häagen-Dazs.

Onion Bagel Rant
I really really hate when the wheat bagels at work are put into the same bag as the onion bagels because then I'll go and make myself the perfect honey peanut buttery toasted wheat bagel and I'll be sitting in my cube eating it, thinking, "mmm ... peeeanut butterrr", all happy about the gobs of honey peanut butter drippings I get to dip my bagel in, and then I'll unknowingly eat a toasted onion bit and all of a sudden "mmm ... peeeanut butterrr" becomes "mmm ... peeeanut BLECH!"
Okay, I don't really really hate when that happens, but it's standard gigantic run-on sentence rant format. Gotta keep the blog consistent, ya know?

Bagel Addiction
Help. I'm addicted to bagels. I keep eating those cinnamon raisin ones, toasted, with lots of butter on one half and lots of peanut butter on the other half, and covered with sugar ... so much sugar that the initial layer that gets soaked up by the ton of butter or peanut butter forms a buffer so that the layers that go on top of that remain granular and ever so slightly crunchy. Mmm ... so good. It's like dessert. I've had two already today. There's one cinnamon raisin bagel left in the bag ...
