I Think I Just Earned Myself More Ice Cream
I'm always on the lookout for ridiculously good for you stuff that tastes decent. I figure the more ridiculously good for me stuff I eat, the more ice cream I can justify.
So here's my latest find: Trader Joe's Brown Rice Medley - A Delicious Blend of Long Grain Brown Rice, Black Barley & Daikon Radish Seeds
I was skeptical about it (especially the daikon radish seeds), but I had to at least try it after looking at the nutrition label: 160 calories, 5 grams of fiber, and 6 grams of protein per 1/4 cup serving.
It smelled funny while I was cooking it. I didn't have any other kind of rice around*, so I worried that it would taste horrible and ruin my dinner. I also worried that it wouldn't cook properly in the rice cooker.
I finished up my green bean and tofu stir fry (in black bean sauce, which makes this a three bean dish) and waited. Finally, the little tab popped up on the rice cooker.
In the end, I needn't have worried. This stuff tastes remarkably decent for something so nutritious. It went really well with the stir fry. A+++++!!! Would cook again!!
* I'm a bad, bad, squinty eye.

I looked, but they didn't have any!
They had those mini cookie sandwiches, though. Mmm...

They have a tasty, hmm, Thai? rice blend, too.
So, my having brown rice, jasmine rice, white basmati, and brown basmati rice way outshines you in the rice department?
Oh, I just remembered, I have frozen cooked rice from TJ's, too. White and brown.
Is rice not your comfort food? It is mine.
