Muse back!

Snooow!

There's snow in the mountains, no weekend hockey, and, now that I'm done with school, no meetings to attend or homework to do. What to do, what to do? Go to Tahoe, of course!

I'd originally planned to go to Kirkwood, but one of April's friends whom I met last week was organizing a trip to Heavenly, so I decided to head up with them instead. That turned out to be an excellent choice. The company was great, the weather was awesome, and, despite my thinking I hated Heavenly (it's a long story), the mountain is actually quite fun. I was really pleased with my board, too. It was fast, smooth, and the edges carved beautifully. Nice tuning job, me! *petselfonhead* I was also happy that I remembered how to carve. It's a lot more satisfying than scraping left, scraping right, scraping left, scraping right...

After lunch, we had a bit of an adventure up in Mott Canyon. It's a double black diamond that's roped off, save for several gates with huge signs that say things like "SUPER EXPERT ONLY SUPER EXPERT ONLY" and "Rescue if available will be expensive." We took a picture of the sign, debated whether we should go in (I was being chicken... or would "old" be a better term for it?), and headed in. It was fine, as promised, until we'd gone in too far to turn back. Then, ahead of us, was what looked to be a 70 degree drop. Did I mention there were trees everywhere? So THIS is what a double black diamond looks like, huh? We carefully made our way down, changed direction when we encountered the sign that said there was a cliff ahead, exited Mott Canyon intact, and laughed about it afterward.

We got a couple more runs in after surviving our Mott Canyon adventure. Then, back to the car to sit in ridiculous Highway 50 traffic. That part was no fun, but a dinner stop at In-N-Out afterward made it all better.

I'm totally beat, but looking forward to going back soon. :)

dang, i'd probably sit down and pull out my amex.

i met crazy drops at a small place on the east coast, i took it slow but picked up too much speed so i tried to fall carefully and maybe gracefully slide down the hill. it turned out to be a huge yard sale with one of my poles in the trees. haha, i spent the rest of the day on the bunny hill. =D

Sorry for leading you into Mott Canyon, but it was hella fun chilling with you on the slopes! I was beat too after day playing in the snow. Next time, we're gonna board more hours than we drive!

No worries, we all survived! ;) It was kind of funny, actually, and good experience. Much fun, and THANK YOU for driving! And yes, it'd be nice to spend more time on the slopes, less time on the roads. I don't feel young enough for day trips anymore!

OMG. In Aspen once (the one time I've ever been there), my group headed down a ridge. The black-diamond runs kept coming up on the side, and we'd pass them. At the end? Double black. Aaaagh!

I ended up doing looooooong traverses over deep moguls and turning with my heart in my mouth. (I survived, btw.)
