Spin Spin, Spin Harder

Went to lunch hour spin class today. I'd tried a spin class once before, but that was years ago, before I was in any sort of aerobic shape, and it made me want to die. Today's class went much better. I brought my cycling shoes, clipped in, and got a pretty good workout climbing imaginary hills. We did a lot of work standing, which was good because I tend not to spend much time out of the saddle on my real bikes -- it hurts! On the spin bike, I didn't fear bonking and falling over, so I just went with it. Push, push, push. Those bikes actually feel pretty good clipped in. I think I've found a good off-ice workout for rainy season. I'm hoping this will keep my knees in cycling shape so they don't hurt from overuse when outdoor riding weather returns in the spring. (Not that it's gone yet, but I know it won't be here forever.) Maybe I'll even be in good enough riding shape for Sea Otter next April...

Another note on the SR24hF: they provide workout and bath towels. While this is common for most gyms, it's almost unheard of at the 24hFs around these parts. Their showers are decent for a 24hF, too. I hope they manage to maintain the place over time. Or at least until I don't work in San Ramon anymore. ;)
