I Want To Be Good NOW
Yes, NOW. Kplzthx.
Played another meh game with my Blue team (a.k.a. the team I refuse to refer to by its half former boy band pinup pop star, half thing you yell when a tree falls name). I had a couple good moments and a bunch of "I'd like to request a do-over" moments. Mostly, I was meh because my legs felt slow in the first period. For some reason, my feet just weren't moving. I wasn't cornering fast enough, not changing direction fast enough. I felt ineffective. Blah.
Between the 1st and 2nd periods, I got swapped back to D. I'd have been worried if this had happened earlier in the season, but now that I'm comfortable with the speed, I was happy to try my hand at it. Nothing terrible happened; the other team didn't blow by me and score a bazillion goals. I even poked the puck from a wing and ran it all the way down the ice, getting around two defenders and taking a decent shot at the net that pinged off the left post. Well, that was almost really nice! My teammates even said so. "That was almost really nice!" Hah.
In the end, we didn't need that almostgoal to win. Final score: 2-1. I'm telling you, our away jerseys give us extra fearsomeness!
I went to the rink early to learn how to operate the little scoreboard control box thing before the game. We seem to be hurting for scorekeepers this season, so I figure if I know how to operate the scoreboard I could fill in once in a while. A big blog thanks to Sarah and Emily for teaching me. :)
[ Update: I forgot to mention, I caught an edge and fell on my ass trying to stop to shake the refs' hands after the game. Oh, that was just lovely. ]
