San Ramon 24hF
Visited the 24hF near my new office this afternoon. I'd hoped that my $99 a year all clubs membership would get me into the San Ramon Super Sport uber club, but it was not to be. Given that I tend to work out midafternoon or not at all, I decided to upgrade. The damage: a $40 enrollment fee and about $30 monthly. That's a lot for one gym, given what I'm used to paying for "all" gyms! I have to say, though, that place is pretty nice.
Where do I begin? There's the pool, which is bright, clean, and naturally lit during the day. They have a pretty decent looking spin room, which may come in handy when it gets rainy. There are machines everywhere; more cardio and strength training than I'll ever manage to experience. I'm actually looking forward to an LB day there soon; they have a few calf machines I've never tried, and I love calf exercises. They have what look to be rubberized kettlebells, my favorite ab bench that I haven't used since my last visit to the SM24hF, and bars for me to do oblique twists, which I haven't done since my last visit to the SC24hF. There are two full size basketball courts with plenty of side nets, and they provide the balls. There's a super useful stretching cage that, quite amusingly, looks like a medieval torture device. They have a Jamba bar and a self-serve Starbucks machine that takes credit cards. And, finally (well, not really finally, but I'm about done with today's list of things I found worth mentioning), there is club lighting in their Group X room, complete with disco ball.
I'm going to have to lay out a gym schedule in Outlook. I'm aiming for a day each of UB, LB, and pool. Come to think of it, I should do two pool days a week; I really need the practice. I should also find some time for basketball and spin. Darn, I'm out of weekdays.

wow, I thought my "all club" membership meant all clubs. So now, after you upgraded, your membership really is "all club"??
how many squat rack/cages did you see?

I'll have to count again when I go today, but you know 24hF, not big on free weights...
