Beware The Burrowing Bugs
Last night, a bug burrowed into my chin and wouldn't come out. At first, only its head was embedded, and we pulled and pulled to no avail. I tried calling Kaiser for an appointment, but I couldn't reach a human, and in that time it burrowed into my chin completely and the wound closed up, leaving me with a big buggy bump under my lip. I decided to go to the ER. As I packed up my stuff (phone, laptop, laptop charger, USB cable to charge my phone, and a big stack of NCWHL scoresheets to work on) my mom hurriedly came in with a large baked pork bun (mmm, cha siu bao!) for me to take with. Mom, so sweet.
Then I woke up. I checked my chin. No buggy bumps. Phew.

Phew...it was only a dream. I came back from Hawaii with quite a number of rather itchy, red mosquito bites. They looked like they were healing. But yesterday they got angry red and very itchy again. (Is there such a thing as a relapse with mosquito bites?)
I got worried for a second that I might have burrowing bugs instead of old bites.

Thank goodness it was only a dream. That bug was BIG, and it hurt like crazy when we tried to pull it out. It was long and black and had a really hard shell. I imagined big pincher claws on its head, although I couldn't see 'cause it was already in my chin.
Eeek.

okay you got me. Hey KarenB you might want to get that checked out it sound like chiggers not skeeters

I tried looking for some pictures of chigger bites and mine don't match. I don't have any pimply or blister type bumps.
When the bites looked like they were healing (aka not itchy, red anymore), they kind of looked like faint bruises. Now, they look like faint bruises with red or pink, itchy circles around them. But the red part is mostly flat (not raised). I thought maybe the blood from the bruises was draining and skeeter anti-coagulant in the draining blood was causing a new reaction.
But if they continue to itch and look red, I'll hit up the doctor.
