Burninators Game 3: University Of Arizona Icers
Schwew, what a game! We played a fast paced team tonight, evenly matched and a fun opponent. The other team scored first, but we answered with a goal by Lucinda, who scored her third goal in as many games. The puck squirted loose near the other team's net, we both skated for it, and when I saw that she had the better angle I tied up an opponent and watched her put it away. We took a 2-1 lead on the very next shift on a goal by Lindsay.
With seconds to go in the game, the other team rushed the net, created a gigantic pile of bodies up front (with our goalie at the bottom), and snuck the puck in on the other side. We went into overtime, and Sharon (a.k.a. Clutch) put one in to win the game. I jumped onto the ice, gave her a huge hug, and didn't let go until our gigantic midice team huddle was over. Wow, what a finish!
When we lined up for the first faceoff, I looked up at my opposing wing and said hello. She answered with, "Burninating the countryside?" "Burninating the peasants!" I replied, with a huge grin. I love when people get the reference.
A lot of our friends from Black List showed up to cheer us on. It meant a lot to us that they came. Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming, and for all that loud cheering! :-D
It's really nice to see Lindsay and Sharon finally clicking again. They hadn't played together in a while, and were trying to make plays but missing by a few feet in the first two games. Tonight, their passes were dead on, and they connected numerous times, as evidenced by their two goals this game. Looking forward to more of that tomorrow.
We are playing better as a team, too. We have definitely improved with each game this tournament. I hope that improvement will continue through tomorrow's game.
Speaking of tomorrow's game, whoo, we're in the finals! As I'd hoped, we get to play the Polar Cats again. I'm thinking the third time will be the charm for us.

Yeah and the whistle should have been blown at 9.2 seconds. We had a blast watching and cheering...Flame on!

omg, the "flame on" is tooooo great.
i agree about the whistle that should have been blown.
also agree about thank goodness for Clutch, because i ALSO would have been pushed beyond the one tear that did squeak out of my right eye, thanks to me not clearing the puck out of the zone.
SO HAPPY that black list & friends came - made the game that much more special.
