An Excellent Idea
I suggested to Carolyn that we go for a Saturday ride. She suggested that we ride to someplace that served root beer floats. An excellent idea, we all thought, and she, Peter, and I took off for Alice's.
As it turns out, root beer floats was an excellent idea, until we reached the hills. By the time we arrived at Alice's, we were ready for some hot chocolate instead.
One of Carolyn's coworkers came over to say hello when we pulled into the lot. When she introduced him to me, he said, "We've met," and went on to describe exactly where I should know him from. This confused me greatly; I couldn't figure out when I was there with both Carolyn and him. He and Carolyn walked toward his bike, and I said to Peter, "I've been [there] with a Chris, but it can't be that Chris!" As it turns out, that was the same Chris, slightly modded. I'm not sure whether to file this under "Small World" or "Everyone Knows Bluepoof".
The four of us settled into Alice's for a bite to eat and some much needed hot chocolate. Chatted some, caught up some, then headed back out into the cold (yeah, I can hear you people back home laughing again). I was shivering by the time I had all my gear on. Next cold weather ride I go on, if I can't fit a few more layers into my leathers, I'm stuffing myself into the Aerostich with 6 layers of fleece underneath.
All in all, a fun ride, and I thawed out pretty quickly after returning home, thanks mostly to Aaron, who returned from his (human-powered, a.k.a. not a lazy ass like I am) ride before me, turned on the heater, and had the place nice and toasty before I got back. :)
