Whoo, New Record!

I thought my legs would be tired after riding 25 (no, I mean 26!) miles yesterday, but this morning I pulled off my fastest ride to work yet. Total time for the 4.2 mile ride was 14:12. My bicycle commutes into work usually take 16:xx minutes, and I don't think I've ever broken 16:00.

That's nice and all, but I probably had some help from the stoplights (or, rather, golights). The number I can truly be happy about is the average speed: 18.1 MPH. My previous average speed record on this ride was 17 MPH, and my usual average speed is around 16 MPH, so this was a pretty decent jump.

I think what helped a lot is that my legs really did remember how to pedal in circles. Everything felt strong and smooth from the start. I hit the big ring just before the Wolfe overpass, and was able to stay there with the rear in the top two gears until I reached work.

And now that I've spent a few hours at work, my legs are starting to feel sore...
