First Snow Trip of the Season
Late last season, I placed an order for my skiblades, went skiing, picked up my skiblades upon return, and didn't make it back up to the mountain.
Yesterday, I finally got to try out the skiblades. Totally fun, but I kept looking at the snowboarders and wishing I had my board with me instead.
I need to clone myself. I need three of me for the mountain so I can play with all my toys.
As for the mountain, it was butt-ass cold (where did that phrase come from?) -- 20 degrees, and blowing snow so hard that they had to close half the lifts. Tahoe's supposed to be mild! What happened to the 33 degree sunny day promised us? Brr...
Had a decent time despite the crappy weather, and despite the fact that the super-cool reflective lens on my new goggles got scratched on the way home. That bums me out a bit, 'cause I really like them, and they're still really new.
In happier news, the hip flexor felt fine, and I didn't injure anything. :)

Jedi knows all!
I was at Kirkwood on Saturday, and the weather was in the mid 30s; it only got windy late in the day around 3pm. I thought the weather reports were going to be wrong since it was raining most of the way, and only stopped when were were about a half an hour from the slopes.
Other than the crowds, a very bad face plant, and my issue getting off the lift on my last run, it was a pretty good day. My lungs held :-) The only downer was that I missed my hockey game due my tweaked ankle as the result of twisting when getting off the stupid lift :-( (sorry captain Jedi!)

Ouch. How did you manage to tweak your ankle in a boot?
I had a little trouble with chairmates and timing coming off my first lift ride and ended up hopping off from 2 feet in the air. Good thing I wasn't on my snowboard.

It's kind of like...getting over the boards, skiing-style. It can apparently be more hazardous than the actual sport!
