I Sure Hope This Works

Gloves and elbow pads now swishing in the washer.

Oh, how I miss Clean Solutions!

Me too. Let us know how it turns out. My gloves are in desperate need of a wash.

Well, seems like it worked, given that I destroyed neither the washer nor my gear. :)

I put the gloves and elbow pads in laundry bags before tossing them in the washer with some detergent and a lot of color safe bleach. Ran the washer on delicate, with warm water. Decided to skip the dryer; it just doesn't seem very gear friendly.

I gave our dishwasher its monthly run today, and decided to stick the elbow pads, now smelling like fresh laundry, in for a heat cycle or two. That worked very well. The elbow pads smelled great while still wet, and after drying smell like half fresh laundry, half slightly used hockey gear. Not perfect, but a huge improvement from before.

The gloves were a little more difficult. They came out smelling mostly clean, save for the fingertips, so I hand swished them in some more color safe bleach. That did the trick, but drying's been a pain. They're way too soaked for the dishwasher, and I don't really have the patience to blow dry them for an hour. I used the blow dryer on them for 15 minutes, and will let them air dry overnight.

Dry away Viv. I've put mine in the dryer a number of times, and all seems fine with them. I've also washed and dryed my elbow pads and shin guards. Haven't done the chest protector as it doesn't fit in the machines.

Ooh! I was wondering whether I should do the shin guards. Maybe next time ... :)
