I Heart TiVo

Last night, at 2-something in the morning, I was sleepy but mesmerized by the World Bartender Championships. Then I looked at my remote and saw this little round button with a red dot. Mmm ... TiVo. What did I do before TiVo?

Oh yeah, I didn't watch TV.

Did you turn on Tivo Suggestions? It will fill up the recorder for you with shows it thinks you'll want to see. It can be entertaining sometimes. I'm not sure why one of ours thinks we know Spanish.

Sometimes suggestions come in handy... when you can't sleep at 4am and find that Tivo has recorded a nice little gem for you - like Earthquake. Just ask Karen.

I turned it off ... I have control issues with apps that fill up hard drives behind my back. :-D

Actually, now that I think about it, my TiVo thought I knew Spanish, too. Maybe they just assume all Californians know Spanish. Or maybe it's trying to get me to learn. Yeah, that must be it.

Hee hee. Someone sneak into Viv's house and turn on suggestions and then give a triple thumbs up to all the porn shows. :-)

I don't get porn channels, darnit! I tried to do a search by adult movies or something like that and it returned nothing!

Ohhh, hey, so *that's* what the thumbs up and down buttons are for!

Mine records spanish cartoons for me. I love TIVO suggestions.. it's like Big Brother watching over me and telling me what I should like.

Don't you think that's kinda creepy? :)

Posted by: Viv at January 18, 2005 08:42 AM

It would only be creepy if it actually were correct in its suggestions.

Of course, we have oodles of season passes, so that doesn't leave much for Tivo to suggest.

Turn off the spanish channels and you won't get spanish suggestions

Okay, you're going to laugh at me, but I like being able to channel surf sequentially.

:-|

Posted by: Viv at January 18, 2005 05:33 PM

even channels you don't watch? well okay then! ;-)

Posted by: Shadow at January 18, 2005 05:48 PM

Well, at least you didn't laugh. Hehe.

Posted by: Viv at January 18, 2005 05:51 PM

I like to surf sequentially as well. Matt likes to look at the guide.. but I gotta see what what I'm missing!

Posted by: Julienne at January 19, 2005 09:15 AM

I need to look at the guide and have the numbers be sequential ...

Posted by: Viv at January 19, 2005 09:29 AM

I only watch prime numbers.
Okay, sometimes even numbers.
But never square roots.

Ooh, a TV OCD poem!

Posted by: Viv at January 19, 2005 10:22 AM

If you channel surf sequentially, you obviously don't have enough channels. The channel range of 100-200 on DirectTV are all PPV channels. Scrolling through all them is pretty boring....and it probably wouldn't help any wrist injuries. :-)

Posted by: KarenB at January 19, 2005 01:22 PM

Ah, but I don't have DirecTV! I just have 80 or so channels.

"Just", ha! I watch maybe 5 of them.
