30×9 Week 4

I almost broke the midnight rule yesterday. Fortunately, NBC broadcast the lighting of the cauldron early enough that I was able to watch, finish getting ready for bed, and jump into bed at 11:59:59. I watched the clock hit midnight as I landed.

I haven’t started a new book, but until the Olympics started I did continue to go to bed around 11. I’ve been whittling down my Instapaper articles. Finally finished a long article on Graeme Obree that Aaron sent me back in March. I realize that’s only 4 months ago, but that’s ages in Internet time.

I hope I’ll be able to finish strong on 30×9, but it’s gonna get mighty hard now that the Olympics have begun. I’m going to want to go home, sit on the couch, watch the Olympics, and eat crap every night. You would think that this gathering of the fittest people on Earth should inspire me to do the opposite. Huh.

    Ha! Totally called it!

And make the Olympic TV watching be an exercise game. Whatever sport you’re watching = do some kind of exercise during play. Do jumping jacks during boxing rounds, jump rope during the time the boat people are rowing the very thin and pointy boats, jog in place while one team has control of the ball in volleyball or whatever works for you. You get a break during time outs, between rounds or whatever. In sports with exceedingly long durations (soccer, basketball) you exercise every time out or for X minutes for every goal (good for soccer). Bing! You get to watch and not be a couch potato.

This is my opportunity to spend more time on the foam roller. I’ve been off it for months, which means major pain when I get back on, but if I’m going to spend every evening with my eyes glued to the TV I might as well glue my legs to the roller while doing so.
